The awesome power of rising floodwaters was on display Thursday and early Friday as heavy rainfall hit Alberta. Calgary and Canmore were struck by flooding, as well as other communities such as High River.
On Friday morning, the Elbow River had crested in Calgary but the mighty Bow River was expected to peak later, with the potential for waters to rise very fast. Many neighbourhoods in Calgary, including downtown, were ordered to be evacuated, hitting some 100,000 people.
