Summer has officially begun and that means it's time to mark your calendars with the best in B.C.'s music festivals.
If you haven't already, take a look at the stellar line up at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, which started Friday and runs until Canada Day.
Today's hot ticket is undoubtedly the stunning Esperanza Spalding, and coming up are plenty of big names, including Herbie Hancock, Macy Gray and Nikki Yanofksy. But there are many treats - both homegrown and international - beyond the marquee acts. Your willingness to step outside the household names could reap dividends.
Things are pretty tight over on the Island, too, with many of the same jazz greats playing the Victoria International Jazz Festival, running now until June 30.
The Canadian indie scene represents big at Port Renfrew's Tall Tree Music Festival (June 28-30), with Hey Ocean!, Hollerado and The Zolas all featuring alomgside international acts such as Scotland's The Funk Hunters.
For more in that vein, don't miss Live At Squamish (August 9-10), where the mountains will vibrate with the sounds of a slate that includes Queens of the Stone Age, crazy Gypsy-punk meisters Gogol Bordello, local sweetheart Dan Mangan and the rapidly rising Yukon Blonde.
Or head out to Victoria's Rock The Shores (July 13 and 14) and check out City And Colour, Weezer, Mathew Good and Mother Mother, among others.

Summer Music Festivals 2013 BC
Nothing says summer in Vancouver quite like the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, (July 19-21), with its unsurpassed backdrop of Jericho Beach. This year's heavy-hitters include the great Steve Earle, Kathleen Edwards, es-Dixie Chick Natalie Maines, Dehli 2 Dublin and The Waterboys.
Country gets its groove on over in the Comox Valley at Vancouver Island MusicFest (July 12-14), where the lovely Mary Chapin Carpenter joins a bill that includes Kris Kristofferson, John Hyatt and the Indigo Girls.
Blues fans have the chance to catch up with Charles Bradley, Blue Rodeo and rising Vancouver star Ndidi Onukwulu at Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival (August 10) at Deer Lake Park.
For an entirely different speed, there's Kelowna's Keloha Music & Arts Festival, (July 5-7), where U.S. psychedelic rockers MGMT top a bill that includes Matt & Kim, Atlas Genius and Arkells.
Then head back to Kelowna for Center Of Gravity (August 2-4), and rave on the beach to artists such as Tiesto, Lights, Sofi, Kaskade and Wolfgang Carter.
Fans of everything electronica should make the trip to Salmo for Shambhala Music Festival (August 7-12), where the huge line up includes Robotic Pirate Monkey, GRIZ, Cyril Hahn and Electrypnose.
Classical music fans are not forgotten at Bamfield's Music By The Sea
(July 6-14), where international classical musicians come together for a series of concerts in one of B.C.'s prettiest, most secluded spots.
And for sheer kitsch, there's always the Penticton Elvis Festival (June 28-30), where Elvis impersonators from around the globe shake their rhinestone-encrusted stuff.
