Be Good Tanyas' member Samantha Parton has had her share of misfortune in recent years but a new campaign to help her out is already surpassing expectations.

Earlier this week, an Indiegogo fundraising campaign was launched to help Parton offset costs since she's unable to perform with the group due to a myriad of medical issues. By noon of July 26, the first goal of raising $10,000 for Parton was eclipsed, reaching $13,680. The new goal of $15,000 by August 30 definitely looks within reach with more than 310 people contributing to assist the musician.

Last September, Parton was riding in a friend's car when a truck ran into them from behind at a high rate of speed. According to the fundraising page she suffered various neck, back and shoulders injuries as well as a concussion. Despite the injuries, she tried to tour with Be Good Tanyas but found it "too physically, mentally and emotionally demanding."

Back in April, Parton was involved in another car accident which compounded the injuries previously sustained. She continues to under physiotherapy and her condition is improving. However an MRI in December for her concussion from the initial accident revealed a benign tumor on the right side of her brain and an aneurysm behind her left eye. She is scheduled to undergo surgery for the aneurysm on July 29 but the post-surgery recovery time could vary from six weeks up to a year.

"While Samantha hopes that insurance will eventually reimburse her for accident-related costs, she is in need of financial assistance to help her cover living expenses and medical costs to come," reads a statement on the campaign page. An update posted Wednesday says Parton and her family "are overwhelmed by the spirit and generosity of the community -- family, friends and fans alike."

"New surgery date is Monday July 29," Parton tweeted Thursday afternoon. "Thank you everyone who has been contributing, sharing link, etc. I feel so supported/blessed. Love xoxo" Parton has received well wishes from the likes of Bif Naked, Julie Penner and a host of other musicians via Twitter this week as well.

For now, the Be Good Tanyas are set to tour Britain soon and welcome donations for Parton at their gigs. The tour kicks off Aug. 26 at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival and concludes Sept. 7 in Reading.
