As June's record floods drive up demand for homes in Calgary, the tight rental market is experiencing a low vacancy rate.
Calgarians who would ordinarily be looking to rent are being pushed into buying, according to Re/Max associate Mike Hornby.

"The rental market is a huge concern. Our vacancy rate was already quite tight to begin with and now it's literally non-existent," he added.
The rent for single-family homes within city limits ranged from $1,100 to $15,000 for a six bedroom, five bathroom home in the community of Briar Hill.
