That notorious movie made unknown Linda Boreman into superstar Linda Lovelace, a woman who came from a conservative upbringing and who changed the face of pornography forever.
The story of Lovelace's career and her tumultuous love life has been made into a film called "Lovelace," starring Amanda Seyfried as Linda, who captures Lovelace's spirit not just in her acting but in her over-the-top sexy '70s and '80s wardrobe.
From lace peasant dresses to sheer blouses and deep-neck tees, Lovelace wore a gamut of fabulous fashions which changed as she moved from the adult film world to her role as an anti-porn activist and mother.
Lovelace, who was 53 years old when she died in a car accident in 2002, came from modest beginnings. Born in the Bronx, New York, the raven-haired beauty went to a Catholic school where she earned the nickname "Miss Holy Holy," a subtle dig at her prim attitude towards boys.
That all changed when she married Chuck Traynor after she graduated high school. Traynor, who was a small-time player in the porno industry, introduced his wife to her new film career which led to the making of "Deep Throat" in 1972.
After only making a few more appearances in small movies, Linda became a spokesperson for the feminist anti-pornography movement and claimed she was abused and coerced into performing in adult films. She left the industry in 1976 after marrying second husband Larry Marchiana and having two children.
