A charity run for the Ronald McDonald House in Calgary set multiple records on Sunday.
The Rock the House Run boasted record attendance, record pledge-raising and an enormous outpouring of support from families who have been guests of the Ronald McDonald House, which helps out-of-town families of sick children receiving treatment in Calgary.
The run began at Market Mall in the city's northwest and participants could opt for a 1, 5 or 10 kilometre challenge.
Over 1,400 runners participated as bands, jugglers and belly dancers performed for the run that has already received over $100,000 in pledges, 660News reports.
"If it wasn’t for Ronald McDonald House, we wouldn’t be able to stay with my son at the hospital,” said Amy Green, who had to seek medical treatment for her son Dexter after he had trouble breathing within 27 hours of being born.
“Financially, we just couldn’t do it on our own. We are eternally grateful we had the House to stay at," she added in a statement.
All funds raised go directly to the house that supports over 380 families in southern Alberta every year.
