Fall Fashion 2013: Coats And Jackets That Will Carry You Through The Winter (PHOTOS)

LOOK: Fabulous Fall Coats

Fall gives us permission to rock many favourite cold weather staples such as toques, tights, leggings, boots and scarves but the best part about the season (in our humble opinion) is glorious fall coats.

There were a few noticeable trends for the fall 2013 season, starting with the oversized coat as well as toggle coats, trenches and leather jackets, all which have been lightened up in colours like pink and winter white.

To get you started in your coat journey, here are some celebrity coat inspirations which will make you excited about bundling up.

Trench Coat

Coats For Fall 2013

Trench Coat

They never go out of style but this fall, the trench has undergone a bit of a makeover. From two-toned and leather-infused to colourful trims and bold prints, the trench coat has been reinvented to suit everyone's style. Actresses like Kate Beckinsale, Amanda Seyfried and supermodel Elle MacPherson have all been spotted tying their cool weather looks together with variations of this fall staple.

Leather Motorcycle Jackets

If you want an edgier but no less warm outfit, look no further than another classic, the leather motorcycle jacket. While the trench will take you to work and back, a leather moto or bomber will keep you out late at night and into the early morning. This style will look good with just about anything from a leggings and baggy sweater combo to a ballgown. This fall, they also come in a variety of colours (emerald green, ocean blue) and textures (lambskin, faux leather).

Most importantly, you can’t even qualify as an R&B crooner or rapper unless you’ve been spotted in one, like singer Miguel, who has talked at length about his love for the cozy and cool jacket. Summer fashion, eat your heart out!

Think Pink

For the girly girl in us all, light pink is hot for fall 2013, especially in the coat department.

Trendsetter Ashley Olsen was ahead of the curve last fall when she sported an oversized candyfloss coat paired with jeans, flats and tortoise-shell sunglasses for a chic, put together ensemble.

Go Big Or Go Home

The breakout trend for coats this fall came in oversized styles. Everyone from Michael Kors to Mulberry capitalized on the loose, boxy shapes which, despite initial judgement, look feminine and sexy. Just do what Blumarine did for their fall 2013 collection: Belt it to show off your waist.

Even if you don't wear a belt, a large coat can still look hot. Don't believe us? Check out "Girls" star Allison Williams rock a big coat while still managing to look effortlessly chic.

If these ideas don't put you in the mood for some fall coat action, we really don’t know what will.
