'Avalanche Sharks': It's Not Only 'Sharknado' Anymore (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'Avalanche Sharks,' The Next Sharksploitation TV Movie

There probably isn't a better way to start off 2014.

What could be a more effective hangover cure than a TV movie about a shark avalanche that takes place during a bikini contest? Yes, that's the main plot point of "Avalanche Sharks," which has its Canadian premiere on New Year's Day, 2014 on Showcase at 8 p.m. EST.

Spring break at Twin Pines Ski Resort means three things: snowboarding, beer and co-eds in bikinis. But as the resort’s biggest annual party -- ak.a. the bikini competition -- descends on the small mountain town, an ancient evil lurks beneath the picture-perfect snow. A terrible avalanche unwittingly caused by a rider has awakened a massive, menacing, pre-historic snow shark. With its newfound taste for human flesh, the snow shark begins mercilessly picking off the snow bunnies.

As the staff at Twin Pines begin to receive reports of missing people and terrifying creatures that move beneath, the management tries to cover up the situation, leading to disaster on the resort’s busiest day of the year. Cut off from help by mountainous terrain and blinding snow, the local sheriff makes an unlikely alliance with a motley crew of snowboarders to take down the snow shark before the white hills run red with blood.

Watch the trailer, above. It doesn't get better than this, folks.
