Christopher Peloso, the husband of former Toronto mayoral candidate George Smitherman, has gone missing for the second time this year, police say.

The 40-year-old was last seen in the Bloor Street West and Lansdowne Avenue area at around 11 a.m. on Sunday, The Toronto Star reported.

He is described as a white male, 5'8" tall, weighing 140 pounds with thinning light brown hair and a two-inch scar on his left temple. He was last seen wearing blue or grey denim pants, a dark blue bomber jacket and black dress boots.

Police have commenced a foot search for the man and a command post has been set up on Wallace Avenue near Lansdowne, according to CP24.

Smitherman tweeted Peloso's disappearance Sunday and said his husband has struggled with depression.

Peloso last went missing in September, and was found near some railway tracks in the city's west end.

Smitherman, who was Ontario's first gay MPP, married Peloso in 2007. The couple has two children, Michael and Kayla.
