If there's one profession in which cliches are allowed, it has to be sports β€” after all, there are only so many ways to describe plays on the ice (or field, or court), and only so many phrases of motivation sportscasters can come up with at the height of athletic excitement.

Or so we tell ourselves.

But in honour of the epic Canada vs. U.S. hockey game on Friday, we would like to pay tribute to eight of our favourite hockey cliches in all their glory. Feel free to shout them out and cheer our boys in red on β€” we'll be doing the same.
