Frozen Great Lakes Photos Prove How Cold Winter Has Been

This Is How Cold Winter Has Been

It's been a wicked winter in central Canada, with temperatures dipping as low as -50 C in parts of Ontario.

Nowhere is the cold more apparent than the Great Lakes, which have essentially been turned into a vast frozen wasteland, if photos from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administraiton are anything to go by.

NASA astronaut Rick Mastracchio took this photo of the Great Lakes from the International Space Station on Feb. 19.
