"The Dorothies," the twin Vancouver heritage homes that were once at risk of being demolished, have successfully been moved to their new location just a few blocks away.
At their new location, the Tudor-style "Dorothies," built in 1931, will be restored. Two townhouse buildings are also set to be built at the back. The homes got their name from the two women, both named Dorothy, who originally inhabited them.
The move, in partnership with Trasolini Chetner Development Corp., was conducted by Nickel Bros. House Moving on Monday.
Trasolini Chetner's Rob Chetner told News1130 that he estimates the cost of the move to be between $250,000 and $350,000.
The homes were moved from 2837 and 2827 W. 43rd Ave. to 2820 West 41st Ave., meaning they will remain staples of West Vancouver's Kerrisdale neighbourhood.
