NDP MP Says Top Tories Have Had 'Bozo Eruptions,' Too (VIDEO)

WATCH: NDP MP Reminds Harper's Team Of Their 'Bozo Eruptions'

The secret recording of a Liberal MP saying he thought Justin Trudeau's abortion pledge was a "bozo eruption" was likely music to the ears of Conservatives who argue the Grit leader is in over his head.

But a New Democrat rose in the House Tuesday to remind top Tories that, in her opinion, they've had a few eruptions of their own over the years.

"I know the Conservatives are having a lot of fun with the Liberal leader's gaffes and blunders but let us keep in mind that bozo eruptions are not exclusively a Liberal thing," said Hamilton MP Chris Charlton.

And with that, Charlton set her sights on the Conservative front bench.

"Who can forget the minister of foreign affairs dropping the f-bomb talking about Toronto, or the minister of industry's quote, 'Is it my job to feed my neighbour's child? I don't think so,'" she said.

Back in 2009, John Baird — then transport minister — was overheard saying Toronto should "fuck off" after Canada's largest city requested hundreds of millions in stimulus dollars for new streetcars.

And just last December, James Moore sparked controversy when he told a B.C. reporter it wasn't his responsibility to feed his neighbour's child after he was pressed about child poverty rates in Canada and kids going to school hungry. Moore later called his remark "insensitive" and apologized.

But Charlton also dug up a controversial quote from Stephen Harper's past.

"Who could forget the prime minister saying, 'Canada appears content to become a second-tier socialist country, boasting ever more loudly about its economy and social services to mask its second-tier status,'" she said.

That quote comes from an op-ed Harper wrote for the National Post back in 2000, when he was out of politics, in which he argued Westerners — particularly Albertans — needed to "think hard about their future in this country."

Finally, Charlton said the minister of the environment "denied climate change exists" and the minister of immigration once called a reporter a "Trotskyite."

After an interview with CTV back in October, Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq was accused of being reluctant to say ice was melting in the Arctic because of climate change.

"There's always a debate around science and what's changing," she said.

Last spring, Chris Alexander, then parliamentary secretary to the minister of national defence, called CBC senior correspondent Terry Milewski an "old Trotskyite" in question period after his report on the cost of arctic patrol ships.

"When it comes to bozo eruptions, both the red and blue teams have been showing their true colours," Charlton concluded.
