Axelle Despiegelaere's modelling career might be over before it even got started.
The Belgian World Cup fan, who was scooped up by beauty giant L'Oreal after photos of her cheering on her team in the stands went viral, was let go by the company after hunting trip photographs emerged from her now-deleted Facebook page.
The pretty 17-year-old reportedly received criticism for a photo that showed her posing with dead wildlife and the caption: "Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It’s much more important than that..this was about 1 year ago…ready to hunt Americans today haha.”
According to the Independent, L'Oreal "cut ties" with the teen and said that their contract was a one-off deal and that the blond beauty is not a spokesperson for the company.
A L'Oreal spokesperson said: "L’Oréal Professionnel Belgium collaborated with her on an ad hoc basis to produce a video for social media use in Belgium. The contract has now been completed."
After pictures of the World Cup fan went viral, Despiegelaere filmed a "hair tutorial" video for a L’Oréal Professionnel Belgique social media campaign, which has received almost two million views since it was posted on July 8.
As of press time, Axelle has not commented on the controversy surrounding her photo.
