'Bipedal Bear' Filmed Walking Around New Jersey Suburb (VIDEO)

'Bipedal Bear' Caught On Video In New Jersey

It was a beautiful day in one New Jersey neighbourhood until residents caught wind of a so-called “bipedal bear.”

In a video uploaded to YouTube on Monday, footage of a bear walking upright was captured by an early riser in Jefferson Township, a community that's home to nearly 20,000 people.

The bear is seen walking across a quiet street toward a wooded lot using two feet. At one point, it even stops and bends over to take a whiff of a garbage can and continues on its way.

However, despite the video being clearer than one uploaded last month of a “bipedal bear” with a similar gait in a neighbouring township, it isn’t convincing everyone.

According to 9 News, some skeptics are questioning the legitimacy of the video, suggesting the bruin may be “just a dude in a bear suit.”

Regardless, the spectacle made for one mesmerizing GIF.

Though the sight may be a surprise to some, reports of bears caught walking on two feet are anything but new.

Last year, a young black bear was caught opening a pickup truck’s door after walking up to it like a human. Rebecca Moore and her husband recorded the scene outside their Maple Ridge, B.C. home, saying it was more funny than frightening.

“We just thought it was hilarious,” Moore said at the time.
