Fall Wedding Dress Trends: Beautiful Gowns For Your 2014 Nuptials (PHOTOS)

Fall 2014 Wedding Dress Trends

Fall is just around the corner, so brides planning an autumn wedding are going to want to start searching for their perfect gown sooner rather than later. Wedding dresses come in so many shapes, sizes, and styles that it can be difficult to choose. Luckily, we’ve rounded up the top fall wedding dress trends for 2014 to help you pick out something truly special.

1) Lace

Lace can be romantic, soft, and sexy all at the same time, which is why it’s not surprising that it’s one of fall’s top wedding dress trends. Specifically, this year the naked lace look has grown in popularity, as it gives a new twist on the classic look.

2) Short

This might be the most surprising trend of all since typical wedding gowns are pictured as long and flowing. However, short dresses are gaining popularity thanks to their refreshing look and unique styles. Plus, a shorter hemline is the perfect way for brides to show off a stunning pair of shoes. Whoever said wedding dresses had to be long was seriously mistaken.

3) Colour

Earthy colours such as burgundy, dark pink, plum, and red are taking over this fall. These colours beautifully complement the rich hues the season brings and are perfect for those looking for a non-traditional look. But if you’re not daring enough to take on a completely different colour, shades of light pink or even champagne add a beautiful subtle touch.

4) Sleeves

Sleeves on a white gown can actually be quite elegant. For brides bored of the strapless style, sleeves can easily give a dress a whole new look. Plus with so many styles and lengths to choose from, a sleeved gown can be tweaked to the bride’s personal tastes.

5) Roses

While flowers might scream spring, roses are the type that never go out of style all year round. For fall, rosette finishes and floral details are trending. Their soft additions give interesting texture to the dress without being overpowering.

6) Light and airy skirts

Instead of the long tapered skirts we’re so used to seeing, this autumn we can expect to see a lot of light and airy gowns. This whimsical look combines romance and flair perfectly.

7) Beaded detail

This feature can easily turn a plain white gown into an elegant, fancy frock. Beaded detail is subtle and doesn’t take away from the overall look of the dress and, depending on the layer and rows of beads, can help elongate the look of the body.

You’ll want to cover up when the cool fall weather hits, so why not do it in style? Weddings dresses this autumn are seeing a ton of coverings accompany them, from capes to sashes to shawls.

9) Embellished backs

When you’re walking down the aisle, you want your dress to wow from front to back. Luckily, the trend this fall is to have an embellished back with either lace, beads, or an intricate design.

10) Sheer necklines

Sheer necklines allow you sport a similar style to strapless dresses, but without having to show too much skin. Plus, these necklines add simple detail to the gown, making it even more interesting to look at.
