Toronto House Collapse Leaves 1 Person Dead: Reports

The collapse of a house in a north Toronto neighbourhood has left one person dead.

The house was undergoing renovations when it collapsed with three people inside.

According to Newstalk 1010, two of those originally trapped were rescued by firefighters. The third person was declared dead after authorities were able to get a monitor to where the man was trapped in the basement near the back of the home, according to Toronto Star reporter Joel Eastwood. The man has not been identified.

Twitter user Ted Heighington, who says he used to live in the home at 245 Brookdale Ave., posted a photo of the rubble and rescue workers.

Various news organizations also posted photos of the collapsed home.

A school near the home has been put on lockdown as a safety precaution.
