Pop-Up Restaurant In London Is Serving Fish From Beautiful Tin Cans

At This Restaurant There Are No Chefs Or A Kitchen -- Just Tin Cans

Getting served food from a tin can may be considered lowbrow in the gourmet world, but one pop-up has found a way to make tin cans look extremely luxurious.

Tincan, a new pop-up restaurant in the SoHo district of London, U.K., only sells fish in gorgeous and colourful tins, according to the Guardian. The new artsy joint, with no chef and no kitchen, serves up some of the world's best and fanciest fish.

"The perception of tinned food in the U.K. is different from how it is in other parts of the world,” Tincan's Maximiliano Arrocet told the paper. "[In Spain] you can get gourmet food in a tin, and it’s not frowned upon."

In fact, top Canadian chefs have also recently been on the hunt for quality preserved and canned foods, reports the Globe and Mail.

Esteemed French chef Alain Ducasse, in addition to announcing a mostly vegetarian menu for his restaurant in Paris, noted he would be utilizing tinned fish like sardines at the restaurant.

Tincan will be around for six months and has also collaborated with architect firm AL_A to design lights, aluminium stools and a wall of delightful looking tin cans. Although their menu isn't listed on the site, the Guardian notes they serve everything from Portugese mackerel fillets in olive oil to Galician urchin caviar with sides of bread and salad.

While we're also fans of preserving recipes for fall, this creative pop-up may also make us pick up a can of tuna or sardines the next time we go grocery shopping.
