'Popples' 2015: Netflix To Revive Iconic '80s Children's Cartoon

They're Coming Back!

Children of the '80s rejoice! The 'Popples' are coming back, this time on Netflix.

The video streaming service announced Wednesday it had picked up the children's cartoon and would distribute the show to users worldwide, according to a press release.

"We look forward to debuting this new 'Popples' series to children around the world," said Haim Saban, Chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group, adding, "with the global reach of Netflix, we know 'Popples' will reach a whole new generation of kids that will love it as much as their parents."

For the unfamiliar, "Popples" began as a children's toy in an era saturated with Troll dolls and Cabbage Patch Kids. The toy's popularity spawned a Saturday-morning cartoon featuring characters who could transform from fluffy balls to furry friends and back.

Like the original show, Netflix's take will feature six core characters: Bubbles, Sunny, Lulu, Izzy and Yikes as they embark on adventures with good intentions but inadvertently cause a little trouble on the way. The show will be produced by ZAG Entertainment and Saban Brands, the same company responsible for "Power Rangers" and "Digimon".

Kids and those hankering for '80s nostalgia can watch all 26 half-hour episodes come late 2015.
