Subway Wants To Help Women Wear Sexy Costumes This Halloween (VIDEO)

Subway Wants Women To Stay Sexy This Halloween

Subway wants you to stay healthy and sexy this Halloween.

There are few other conclusions to draw from its latest ad showing a woman sitting down to eat before noticing two colleagues eating burgers.

"Summer's over," says one of them, to which the woman responds, "You gotta stay in shape for all the costumes." You know, like "attractive nurse," "sassy teacher" and "hot devil."

The ad does not appear on Subway's YouTube page, but Time.com said it was posted with a description saying, "Bikini season may be over, but there’s more reasons right around the corner to stay fit."

The implication being, eating their sandwiches will help you stay that way.

There are plenty of health reasons to eat well and stay fit. Heart disease and blood pressure come to mind. Being sexy isn't one of them.

Subway told TODAY it didn't mean to offend. Host Matt Lauer said, "I do think you need to at least look for the humour in it."

Even so, it's a little ironic for Subway to suggest it can help you stay thin. Research out of UCLA has shown that while the chain does have healthier sandwiches on its menu, they're not items customers typically order, The New York Daily News reported last year.

The study found Subway meals ordered by 100 participants averaged 955 calories, while McDonald's meals average 1,038 calories.

In other words, when comes to choosing between two fast-food meals, it probably doesn't make a difference anyway.
