DWTS' Alfonso Ribeiro Has Been A Dancing Star Since 1983 (VIDEO)

WATCH: Alfonso Ribeiro Has Been A Dancing Star Since The Early '80s

"Hi, you know I wasn't born a dancer, I learned to do it with a lot of help."

So said Alfonso Ribeiro, the greatest dancing star in the history of "Dancing With The Stars," back in 1985 in an amazing commercial for "Alphonso's Breakin' and Poppin' Book" which taught kids how to do the moonwalk, the king tut, "backspins that will flip out your friends and eye-popping moves like the centipede!"

Of course, Ribeiro originally rose to fame doing the moonwalk the year earlier in a famed Pepsi commercial where he dressed up as. and danced with, Michael Jackson himself.

Now earlier this week, everyone freaked out because Ribeiro busted out his famed "Carleton Dance" -- which, by the way, he initially cribbed from Courtney Cox in Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark" video. And even earlier we were wowed when he got jiggy with it to his former "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" co-star's hit.

But while we all now have the "Fresh Prince" theme in our heads ("In west Philadelphia born and raised...") Ribeiro wasn't the freshman on that show. Unlike Will Smith, Ribeiro had been a child star, largely thanks to, yep, his dancing skills.

His first major role was in 1983 as the star of Broadway musical "The Tap Dance Kid" and then was cast as Ricky Schroeder's breakdancing best friend on "Silver Spoons." He also enjoyed a short-lived singing career with tunes like "Dance Baby," "Not Too Young (To Fall In Love)" and a cover of "Ooh Child."

So while you wait impatiently for Ribeiro's inexorable advancement to claim his mirrorball prize, please enjoy these amazing vintage videos of him busting moves long before Carteton was conceived.
