Tom Mulcair's Angry Bird Halloween Costume Stands Out

There's nothing like a cheeky Halloween costume, especially when it's worn by Canada's Opposition leader.

NDP torchbearer Tom Mulcair took a jab at his own "Angry Tom" image by dressing up as an orange Angry Bird for All Hallow's Eve. With a knowing smile, the Ottawa native fulfilled his official duties on Friday, and gave out candy to trick-or-treaters at his Stornoway residence, with help from his wife Catherine. Afterwards, he took his granddaughter out for a stroll.

Mulcair has carried this particular nickname since before being selected as the NDP leader in March of 2012. A Maclean's article from earlier that month dubbed him "Mr. Angry." The term has followed him through several headlines, including prominent placements in the Toronto Sun, National Post, and in an image rehab piece in The Globe and Mail, among others. Now, with this in mind, the Ottawa Citizen declared the 60-year-old "wins at Hallowe'en" with his "perfect" costume.

From the looks of it, Mulcair had a jolly old time during the holiday. He even posted a Halloween album to his official Facebook page after the event.

But, he was not alone. Over at 24 Sussex, Prime Minister Stephen Harper also doled out sweets to "the little ghouls and goblins" who stopped by. Unlike Mulcair, Harper opted for a layered autumnal look for the occasion.
