This Woman Is Beating All The Men At Movember

No-Shave November is the glorious time of year when gentlemen from all over the world grow out their moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues. But one woman—yes, woman—is outdoing the men this year like it’s nobody’s business.

For Movember, Texas-based photographer S. Van Lokey decided to transform herself into mustachioed men using makeup and a variety of fake facial hair. Amazingly, ABC reports that her makeovers were so convincing, that her own mother didn’t even recognize her in the photos she took.

Motivated by a family member’s illness to do this project, Lokey told CNN: “What started out as a wacky Movember mustache photo project turned into a serious exercise in making me unrecognizable even to myself. Eventually my friends were like, ‘I don't even see you in this photo.’ And that made me think, ‘Wow, let me see what I can really do with this.’”

Bringing her A-game, Lokey disguised herself using a mustache from her collection of 50, face paint and makeup to change her features, and old-fashioned clothes to bring her male characters to life. She then used her iPhone to take selfie-styled photos, which she later posted on Facebook.

While many people believe that Lokey uses Photoshop to create her images, she reassures folks that this is not the case. In fact, the photographer sses phone apps to give her images a vintage feel instead.

“Even though my pictures are not real, in that I'm trying to be someone else, I try to make sure they're real without altering them too much digitally,” she explains. “Keeping the fake real is what I'm trying to do. If someone can't recognize me, I have done my job.”
