A professional mixed martial arts fighter from Prince George, B.C. is accused of stealing a puppy — and has also been banned from entering the northern city as part of his bail conditions.

"Ruthless" Ryan Chiappe, 36, was arrested on Dec. 5 shortly after a nine-month-old pit bull was reported stolen, according to The Vancouver Sun.

Police pulled him over and found the dog in his vehicle, reported The Prince George Citizen. A search of Chiappe's home uncovered two stolen bikes.

RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass told CBC News that the stolen puppy investigation led police to Chiappe as a suspect in a case of assault causing bodily harm.

Chiappe, who was born in Prince George and fights out of Vancouver, faces a string of charges including theft under $5,000, assault, obstructing justice, extortion, and uttering threats.

Police said they've had about 100 interactions with the professional fighter since 2007, reported Global News. He was released on conditions that include staying 50 kilometres outside of Prince George, unless he has to go to court.

Chiappe is scheduled to go to trial in February for four counts of possession of a controlled substance in Port Coquitlam, said the Citizen.

The welterweight has a record of 10 wins and eight losses since 2006.
