You're in the final stretch of 2014, and it's easy to just throw up your hands and say, "That's it, I don't care about healthy eating anymore, I'm pigging out until 2015."

And we hear you. We really do. A couple days of total indulgence isn't going to kill you, but in all honesty, the holidays don't take place over one or two days.

Instead, what tends to happen is a full six weeks of eating desserts and appetizers, and drinking sugar-laden cocktails that make you feel sluggish and bloated and generally unprepared to face the new year with any healthy plans whatsoever.

In the slideshow below, the experts at Weight Watchers have pulled together some ideas for how to get started on an eating plan you can maintain all year round — and yes, they do recommend that you start right now, before Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

One thing we love about these tips is that they aren't just for you, but instead, they also give hints to help hosts and hostesses serve their guests in a more healthful way. After all, your guests don't gorge themselves on the ham, they'll have room to taste all the other delicious dishes.

Plus, these are tips you can keep in your back pocket all year round, not just for the holidays. Check out the advice below:
