26 Stirring Reactions From Artists To The Attack In Paris

Sometimes you can convey an idea better with images than words.

That's undoubtedly the case when it comes to the deadly mass shooting at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical publication in Paris.

Massive crowds gathered across Europe, holding up pens in a show of solidarity with the newspaper's journalists.

And on social media, artists are using their own pens to send a message.

Here are some of the most powerful artistic images that emerged in the wake of the shootings:

Translation: "Ink must flow. Not blood."

Translation: "The world has become so serious that humour has become a risky profession."

Translation: "Today, I'm a cartoonist. Today, I'm a journalist. Today, I draw for Charlie Hebdo."

Translation: "Not a fair fight."

Translation: "Wholeheartedly with Charlie Hebdo."

Translation: "Take up arms, companions!"

Translation: "Oh no, not them ..."

Translation: "There is no freedom without the freedom of the press."
