'Sunnyside': Canadian TV's Latest Sketch Comedy Gem (VIDEO)

Canadians have the comedy market cornered, everybody knows that.

So it's no surprise that the new sketch comedy/sitcom hybrid "Sunnyside" tickles the funnybone, and then some. It premiered on January 8, 2015.

"Sunnyside" is a six-episode, half-hour series with recurring characters and recurring locations that pop up throughout the show. It's an absurdist take on a neighbourhood in transition. The neighbourhood is in itself a character within the show, and has an unpredictable and magical quality that becomes evident as the series unfolds.

From award-winning creators/executive producers/showrunners Gary Pearson ("This Hour Has 22 Minutes") and Dan Redican ("The Kids In The Hall"), "Sunnyside" stars Kathleen Phillips ("This Hour Has 22 Minutes") and Pat Thornton ("Satisfaction," "The Jon Dore Show," and features the voice of Norm Macdonald ("Saturday Night Live").

"Sunnyside" airs Thursdays on City at 8 p.m. ET/PT/9 p.m. MT/7 p.m. CT.
