Two of Marvel Studios' most popular leading men are facing off in a heated Super Bowl bet for charity, and the stakes keep getting higher.
Chris Pratt and Chris Evans — "Guardians of the Galaxy"'s Star-Lord and "The Avengers"' Captain America, respectively — have been taunting each other on Twitter since the Super Bowl teams earned their berths on Jan. 19. Pratt is rooting for the Seattle Seahawks, while Evans is putting his faith in the New England Patriots.
According to CNN, Evans threw the first punch by tweeting Pratt the message, "For the next 2 weeks, you are not my friend, you are my enemy." Soon after, the wagers were laid. If Pratt's Seahawks won, Evans would visit the Seattle Children's Hospital as his famed costume character. On the other hand, Pratt would do the same if the Patriots won, by stopping in at Christopher's Haven, a local Boston-area paediatric cancer centre, in a Tom Brady jersey.
Dubbing their feud the "Twitterbowl," both Pratt and Evans took their seats near each other before the big game but not before amping up the hecking.
Prior to kickoff, Pratt also popped by the NFL Network for a pre-game interview and made sure to call out Evans, with confidence.
"When the Seahawks win, he's going to have to fly across country dressed as Captain America," said Pratt.
Friendly trash talk aside, you have to give Pratt and Evans props for transforming their Super Bowl XLIX rivalry into an opportunity to give back.
