Pre-Fall 2015 Trends You Can Wear Right Now

Pre-Fall 2015 Trends You Can Wear Now

Just because a trend is introduced for a season that's roughly seven months away, that should never deter a true fashion aficionado from wearing it anytime he or she pleases.

Pre-fall 2015 shows wrapped in January, and like every season, a crop of exciting trends emerged from the runways. Many of the trends, like fuzzy shearling coats, over-the-knee knits and a generous hit of 1970's style inspiration are perfect for the current weather situation, don't you agree?

Here are some of our favourite wearable trends from the Pre-fall 2015 shows you can sport right now.

Shearling Coats

Is there anything warmer or more stylish than a shearling coat? The perfect topper for a cold day made its way down the runways of Burberry Prorsum, Gucci and Chloé.

Long Knits

It wouldn't be fall without knitwear, now would it? Pre-fall 2015 showcased a variety of interesting takes on knitwear, most of which grazed or surpassed the knee. Whether you wear it as a dress with a cozy pair of tights and boots or layer it over wide-legged trousers, knitwear was made fresh again.

Tweed With A Twist

If you thought tweed was only made for classic Chanel suits, you'll be shocked and pleasantly surprised to find it reincarnated for Pre-fall 2015. Tweed jackets with embellishments like heavy fringe and frayed edges make the prim fabric look decidedly bohemian. The heavy fabric is great for cool weather so we recommend sporting the look right now.

Unconventional Ways To Wear Denim

Most of us automatically think jeans or jackets when denim comes to mind. One notable trend that emerged from Pre-fall 2015 was the fun, fresh ways of wearing the classic utilitarian fabric. Derek Lam created denim culottes while Acne Studios impressed us with a shearling lined denim dress over matching trousers. You'll never look at denim the same again.

Ponchos

We're fully aware that ponchos don't fall under the category of "innovative new trend." Still, we love them and we're happy to have the poncho return for another comfortable season. The low maintenance cape appeared at Zero + Maria Cornejo with chic sporty sensibility while Elizabeth and James' version was preppy chic with just the right amount of "borrowed from grandma." Meanwhile, Chloé's version of the poncho was classic bohemian with a tribal print and fringe detailing.

Long Vests

Vests have graduated from simple underpinning to the main attraction. One of the most wearable trends shown at Pre-fall 2015 was the long vest. In just over a month, we'll need to break out our best transitional pieces and the long vest, as seen at Carven and 3.1 Phillip Lim, will be a welcome addition for layering purposes.

Animal Prints

Fall and animal prints go together like spring and floral. Pre-fall saw animal prints reimagined in both new and tried and true ways. Stella McCartney debuted a coat in giraffe print while Lanvin gave a floor length ruffled skirt the leopard print treatment.

Athletic-Inspired

The invasion of athletic-inspired leisurewear hasn't let up, as evidenced by Pre-fall collections from Versace and Paco Rabanne. It's an easy trend to adapt for any season, so why wait to try it?

Square Graphic Prints

Plaid has been swapped out for sophisticated graphic square prints. We saw squares everywhere, including at Lanvin in the form of a warm robe coat with a windowpane check. Tory Burch and Derek Lam also embraced the graphic trend. Give this wearable look a go now by mixing and matching separates with the chic print or add some visual interest by pairing a monochromatic outfit with a graphic print blazer or coat.

Shaggy Coats

We saw a lot of playful texture in the form of shaggy coats on the runways of Sonia Rykiel, Stella McCartney and Lanvin. If you're looking for a way to stay warm without sacrificing style, these fun muppet-inspired coats fit the bill.
