This GIF Shows How Much Toronto Grew In 28 Years

Toronto: city on the grow.

Toronto: city on the grow.

That's the best way to describe Hogtown when you look at a GIF showing just how much the city expanded between 1984 and 2012.

The GIF, which comes courtesy of Google, shows development spreading north with plenty of momentum.

The site used Landsat images to produce some astonishing animated time-lapse GIFs as part of a tool that demonstrates how different parts of the world have changed over the course of almost three decades. Introduced in 2013, the tool was developed in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey, NASA and Time magazine, as part of Google's "Timelapse" project.

You can check it out for yourself right here, and see how other cities in Canada, and around the world, have grown in the same period.
