Is Corn Good For You? Experts Weigh In

Experts Dish On The Amazing Benefits Of Maize

Biting into a sweet juicy cob of corn can be so delicious, it'll make you wonder if it's actually healthy.

In the video above, Time looks at the many reasons to eat corn, from the number of nutrients you'll gain by noshing on kernels to the ultra-filling fibre that is unique to the fresh tasting vegetable.

Some people believe corn is bad for you because of its carb content, but dietitians and health experts tend to agree that all the vitamins and nutrients you get from the veggie should outweigh carbohydrate concerns.

Nina Planck, author of the Real Food Cookbook, tells Time that the best options for health are to choose fresh or frozen corn, fresh popped corn and stoned ground whole yellow corn.

And David Katz of Yale University says buying whole grain corn is just as important as buying whole grain wheat. Whole grains provide a number of health benefits including lowering cholesterol and blood pressure to assisting in digestion.

Watch the video above to find out what the experts had to say.
