Justin Bieber has pleaded guilty to assault and careless driving in connection with an incident near his hometown of Stratford, Ont. last year.
Global News reporter Joseph Peplinski tweeted Thursday that the singer was guilty of assault and careless driving, while a charge of dangerous driving was dropped.
National Post reporter Joseph Brean said Bieber faces an absolute discharge for the assault, and a $750 fine for careless driving.
The judge overseeing Bieber's hearing said, "The lesson in all of this is to think before you act in the future," Brean tweeted.
The charges stem from an incident that took place in the Township of Perth East on Labour Day weekend.
Ontario Provincial Police charged Bieber with assault and dangerous driving after officers responded to an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a minivan.
The ATV driver and occupant in the minivan later "engaged in a physical altercation."
It happened while Bieber and on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez were taking a "peaceful retreat" in the area before they were interrupted by paparazzi, his lawyer said in August.
In a separate incident, Bieber is defending himself in a lawsuit by a limousine driver who claims the singer assaulted him.
Bieber's lawyers have argued the lawsuit should be dismissed.
