Last week, Kansas mom Sarah Robinson was caught at Walmart trying to steal diapers, wipes and shoes for her six children. Police officer Mark Engravalle was then called to the scene, but instead of arresting the mother, he went into his own pocket and bought the shoplifted items for her instead.

In response to Engravalle’s kind gesture, Roeland Park Police Chief John Morris said: “Though a citation was issued for theft, the compassion that this officer showed was incredible to say the least. We try to make a difference here in Roeland Park, and this proves to be one of those moments.”
After a local radio station reported Engravalle’s story, its concerned listeners donated $6,000 to the mother and her six children, aged 2 to 15.
Overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers, Robinson said: “It’s a new start for all of us.”
