Having Twins: Mom Has Best Response To Strangers' Nosy Questions

Mom Has Best Response To Strangers' Nosy Questions About Twins

When you’re a parent of twins, you’ll likely receive a lot of questions from strangers, ranging from your babies’ gender to whether or not twins run in your family. Australian mom Annie Nolan knows this all too well, so she took to Instagram to post the perfect response.

Last week, as a joke, the 26-year-old mom posted a photo of her twins Delphi and Cheska holding signs addressing the 12 most-asked questions she receives from strangers about her daughters.

“I know most people are coming from a great place and are just curious,” she wrote, “however many can be quite intrusive and after a while it's just plain exhausting.”

In just a few days, Nolan’s post went viral with over 1,600 likes on Instagram and 8,500 shares on Facebook. Many commenters applauded the hilarity and honesty of the mother’s post.

“OMG genius!” one wrote. “I have 2 sets of twins and never thought to do this!”

Another said: “As a father of twin boys I can confirm that precisely the same questions arise in Finland as well and that answering is just as exhausting and annoying here also. Universal problem.”

But while the mom’s post received a lot of positive feedback, Nolan was also criticized for her “snarky signs.” Nolan, who is also a mom to a 4-year-old boy, explained to ABC News: “I have had the general dribble of trolls which I take with a grain of salt. However, it was mostly about the swear word on the sign, and also that I am ungrateful that I have children, and I am rude for not wanting to talk to people.”

In a follow-up post on Facebook, the mom-of-three also reiterated that she never actually walked around with her twins holding the signs. The photo was simply a staged joke.

“I absolutely NEVER meant to hurt a single soul with this photo,” she wrote. “If you knew me, you would know that if I think the pet cat is upset with me, I can’t sleep! I am grateful for my children EVERYDAY.”

Did you think the photo of Nolan’s twins was funny or offensive?
