This year has proven to be a good one for transpeople in the fashion industry -- Andreja Pejic made makeup modelling history, Hari Nef signed to IMG and Lea T. became the face haircare brand Redken. And it's about to get even better.
Apple Model Management, an agency based in Thailand that made history last fall for being the first modelling agency to open a division specifically for transgender models, has decided to open a Los Angeles branch specifically devoted to transgender men and women.
The branch will be run by Cecilio Asuncion, who just released a documentary about transgender women called "What's the T?"
"We see trans individuals as beautiful," Asuncion told The Advocate. "Our strong commitment to developing them as successful models is never about quantifying or qualifying their gender. It's never a question of if they are women or men, it's about their passion and commitment to being the best possible models they can be."
Currently Apple already has six transgender women on its roster, including Sarina Thai (pictured above), but they are actively seeking additional transgender male and female models.
Those interesting in applying can do so here.
