These Hugging Dogs Narrowly Escaped Death Thanks To The Internet

Thanks To The Internet, These Hugging Dogs Are Still Alive

Animal lovers know there's nothing more heart breaking than watching that SPCA commercial set to tune of Sarah Mclaughlin's "Angel," that is until now.

Earlier this week, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue in Georgia shared this heartbreaking photo of Kala and Keira, a hound and a mixed lab, clinging to each other while sitting in a pound. And if the photo wasn't enough to make readers' hearts sink, the caption was sure to do the trick.

"I'm Kala. This is Keira. We're so scared in here. The people working in the shelters see how scared we are but just told each other that today is our deadline," the emotional note read. "We have to have someone rescue us or we'll be 'next.'”

The precious dogs were scheduled to be put down after landing in a high-kill shelter. Fortunately within two hours and six minutes of posting the photo a foster parent (a temporary owner) was found and Kiera and Kala were saved.

THEY ARE SAFE!!! There are no words to tell you how happy we are that these two best friends are safe and together! ...

The two dogs, who became friends in the shelter, are both still looking for their forever home, preferably one that will let them stay together.
