B.C. RCMP say a 19-year-old woman who vanished from a small island east of Ladysmith, B.C. may be a victim of violent crime.
Delores Brown was last seen on Penelakut Island on July 27. She was on her way to visit her grandmother in Chemainus.
The teen, who also goes by Deedee, was reported missing two days later.
Since then, major crime investigators, other police, community members, and search and rescue teams have scoured the area, which includes a First Nations reserve which is home to 300 members of the Penelakut Band.
Police believe foul play is behind Brown's uncharacteristic disappearance, Island District RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.
The First Nations teen is described as 5"6' tall and 120-pounds. She was last seen wearing a hoodie, jeans, and carrying a backpack.
No arrests have been made.
