More than a year after the bus accident that put into an eight day coma in June 2014, Tracy Morgan made a triumphant (and unexpected) return to the spotlight at the end of the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Introduced to the stage by host Andy Samberg, Morgan was greeted by a standing ovation and gave a heartfelt speech about his struggle, his gratefulness towards his fans and his wife, and called out friend Jimmy Kimmel for believing in his recovery.
"I miss you guys so much," he said the crowd.
"Last year, Jimmy Kimmel stood on this stage and said, ‘We’ll see you back here next year, Tracy Morgan.’ Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family and my beautiful new wife, I’m here," said Morgan, before breaking out a few of his signature dirty jokes to an appreciative audience.
"Only recently I’ve started to feel like myself again,” he said, “which means a whole lot of women are gonna get pregnant at the afterparty."
Oh Tracy, never change. And next time, maybe call out Dr. Leo Spaceman when you have the chance.
