Pamela Anderson Launches Two Vegan Accessories Lines

The "Baywatch" star is launching not one, but two vegan accessory lines.

Pamela Anderson, activist and "Baywatch" star, is taking her love for animals to the next level by launching not one, but two vegan accessories lines.

The first line consists of vegan-made boots, similar to the 48-year-old's once-beloved UGGs, called Pammies. Made of comfortable, suede-like recycled fabrics (used electronics, to be exact), the collection features three pieces: the Cove Classic, the Zuma and the Malibu, which come in light grey, brown and white colour options and can be worn with anything, according to Anderson.

"I’m excited about my boots coming out, which you know has been this labor of love for me because I made those darn UGG boots popular," she tells People. "I didn’t know that [animals] were being hurt. [UGG] used me a lot for promoting, but I helped them create their brand … I thought that [the animals] were being shaved and kept well. That was the beginning of my animal activism career, and since then I’ve been trying to create an alternative."

Pammies will launch this October on pammieslife.com.

The second vegan line by the Countess of Giglio was created in collaboration with accessories designer Amelie Pichard. Inspired by the activist's love of Malibu and Saint-Tropez, it will consist of seven '90s-esque shoe styles and a singular beach bag design, all fabricated of nontoxic and breathable plastic, cottons, acrylics and rubbers sourced in France and Italy.

According to Anderson, the main objective of the collection was to prove that "vegans can be sexy -- super fun, super stylish and conscious because young people want to make better choices when it comes to consuming, when it comes to fashion."

"We need more sustainable choices when it comes to handbags and shoes," she says.

The designs will debut exclusively at Opening Ceremony Los Angeles on Dec. 10 and will range from $490 to $950, with approximately 50 per cent of the collection's net proceeds benefiting The Pamela Anderson Foundation. Other retailers including Colette and SSENSE will begin selling the collection in January.
