Lucas Unger and Carlee Leifkes aren't a traditional couple, so it's no surprise their engagement ring is as unconventional as they are.
Instead of giving his soon-to-be bride a diamond ring, Unger, who is originally from Canada, proposed with a ring made with one of his wisdom teeth. And his fiance loved it.
"Diamonds are so overrated," Leifkes told Buzzfeed. “My birthstone is a diamond. I don’t need one to prove how much someone loves me. He’d already moved all the way from Canada to do that!”
It's been a whirlwind romance for the fun-loving couple who met earlier this year at a music festival in Vancouver. After moving to California to be with Leifkes, Unger asked his father to mail him his childhood wisdom teeth, which he was hanging on to for a 'meaningful moment', Inside Edition reports.
The couple is currently busy planning their wedding, which will take place in Vegas in front of an Elvis impersonator later this month.
The shift away from diamond rings seems to be a growing trend. Bloomberg reports diamond prices have dropped by 9 per cent as a result of decreased demands. And while gemstones remain the most popular alternative, the hashtag toothring proves more creative ideas are also gaining ground.
