Toronto's city council has voted in favour of banning the use of hookah pipes inside licensed establishments in the city.
The ban is set to take effect in April next year.
Hookahs, or waterpipes, are used to smoke tobacco and non-tobacco herbal products.
City councillors voted 34-3 in favour of a motion proposing the ban on hookahs at city-licensed businesses.

The motion came after the city's medical officer of health raised health concerns about the effect of hookah smoke and said it sends the wrong message to youth.
