Canadagram: Meet @GreatNorthCo

GreatNorthCo. Finds Photos That Will Take Your Breath Away
GreatNorthCo/Instagram

This week we head for an adventure with a trio of photographers, meet @greatnorthco. Here they are in their own words:

Great North Collective is a community. We are a community of photographers and creatives, amateur and professional, who want to share the beautiful surroundings of Canada through iconic images.

David Guenther, Christopher Amat, and Mike Seehagel are the faces behind this community. Our goal is to showcase the incredible talent that exists not only in the Great North, but around the world, that is inspiring all of us to get out and explore.

We bring not only our experience in photography and design to this project, but also our desire to build relationships through the sharing of art and experiences.

We want to share stories. Stories of people. Of places. And of adventures. Share your story with us and become part of this community.

We want creatives and photographers in Canada to feel part of an Instagram-based community, and that is what drives us moving forward.

Doing things that you enjoy personally, and being genuine in how you interact with other users and write captions. There is a lot of different avenues you could close to follow or go down, but we recommend just doing what you enjoy and being yourself in what you chose to post. - @Greatnorthco

Great North Collective was formed just over two years ago by the three of us. We had all met through different events or work, but didn't know each other all that well. We communicated a bit through Instagram, so we casually started discussing this idea of starting a little collective of Instagrammers, and seeing if we could develop a community along with it. We went to Waterton for a day, shot some photos, came up with a name, and the rest is history. - @Greatnorthco

This was one of the first photos posted to the GNC account. We had just launched the brand and were heading out for a weekend trip in the dead of winter to take some photos, and discuss the future of Great North Collective. It was unseasonably cold and frozen, but looking back it was a very pivotal moment in our lives. - @greatnorthco

We have always been about the community, and not necessarily individual photographers. There are a lot of influential people out there, but at the core we have always been about inspiring each other to get outside, find a new angle, see something you haven't seen before, and explore. Be sure to have a look at the #greatnorthcollective for an ever-growing list of photographs from the community. - @greatnorthco
