TV is fighting reality for people's attention. And TV is winning.
The TV shows available in 2015 offered no end of great new series to add to the ones we were already watching.
New options represented a cross-section of genres, from sci-fi to drama and comedy, and everything in between. It was more than enough to keep us glued to the couch year-round.
Some of the most diverse offerings came from Netflix, which was responsible for Marvel series "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones," comedy shows "Master of None" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," and family drama "Bloodline."
Clearly, there was more to watch on the streaming service than "House of Cards" this year.
But HBO also delivered with "Show Me a Hero," which starred Oscar Isaac in a political drama created by David Simon, the mind behind "The Wire."
And all was not lost for the networks — Fox kicked off the year with the already-classic "Empire," starring Terrence Howard as a record executive facing his own mortality, while ABC nailed primetime with shows like "Agent Carter" and "American Crime."
We can't wait to see what 2016 offers.
Reality can take a hike if it's anything like 2015.
