Janet Hubert Calls Out Jada Pinkett Smith Over Oscars Boycott

"Just because you didn't get a nomination, that is not the way life works, baby."

UPDATE: Hubert denied in an interview with CBS Chicago that her comments had anything to do with a grudge against the Smiths, saying she thinks they're just upset because Will wasn't nominated: "I've not seen them stand up for very much at all, but when it comes time to I didn't get my nomination, then I'm screaming."

Jada Pinkett Smith may have many supporters in her pledge to boycott this year's Academy Awards, but Janet Hubert isn't one of them.

The original "Aunt Viv" from the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" criticized Pinkett Smith in a Facebook video Monday, saying that it wasn't fair to ask black actors and actresses to jeopardize their careers in order to take a stand that Hubert doesn't believe is worthwhile.

"There's a lot of shit going on in the world that you don't seem to recognize. People are dying, being shot left and right, people are hungry, people are trying to play bills — and you're talking about actors and Oscars. It just ain't that deep. "

She also accused Pinkett Smith of being bitter because husband Will Smith was snubbed for his role in "Concussion," a role for

which she said he may not have deserved a nomination.

"I find it ironic that somebody who has made their living and made millions and millions of dollars from the very people that you're talking about boycotting, just because you didn't get a nomination, that is not the way life works, baby."

"Fresh Prince" fans may recall Hubert's feud with Will Smith that goes back many years. She has said in the past that he got her kicked off the show in 1993, while Smith complained about her in an interview that same year, saying she always resented him.

While she softened her stance on the actor in a 2013 interview, one Facebook commenter accused her of still holding a grudge.

"You sound disgusting, petty and bitter. Somewhere in your nasty diatribe there are a few valid points but you just used this as a moment to resurrect your resentments from years ago," wrote Jasmin Shonteé.

What do you think? Does Hubert have some valid points? Let us know in the comments below.
