UPDATE — Jan. 28, 2016: The victim has been identified as Christine Lefkove, who is Alex Lefkove's mother, reports CTV News.

A 19-year-old man captured by North Vancouver RCMP after a short foot chase has been charged with manslaughter.

Someone called 911 to report a dispute and possible assault at a home in the 300 block of East 1st Street on Monday evening. The responding officers heard sounds of a struggle and forced their way into the apartment, according to an RCMP news release.

As they entered the home, a man fled via the balcony. He was caught after a short chase, said police.

A 58-year-old woman was found in the residence with "extensive injuries," said RCMP. She was taken to hospital and put on life support but died on Tuesday evening.

"This incident appears to be a targeted, domestic-related dispute and further details will not be released," said Sgt. Stephanie Ashton of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team in a news release.

Alex Lefkove has been charged with manslaughter and remains in custody. Police said the female victim was "known" to him.
