This Beautyblender Hair Hack Has Beauty Lovers Freaking Out

Proving Beautyblenders aren't just great for makeup.

Sometimes to get the beauty results we want, we need to make sacrifices.

We crush eyeshadow palettes, we mix our beloved foundations and we even melt lipsticks together.

But for one hairstylist in the U.K., the ultimate sacrifice was made in the name of beauty: the cutting of a Beautyblender.

As we all know, the Beautyblender is a tiny little tool that is used to give a streak-free application when it comes to applying primers, blushes, foundations and so much else. And the small device doesn't come cheap, retailing at Sephora for $28.

So what was Jamie Steven's motive for destroying the wonderous Beautyblender via scissors? To create a hair sponge he could use for colour strobing.

Colour Strobing, a hair colouring trend we predicted was going to blow up in 2016, individualizes highlights around the face, creating a seamlessly brightened look.

So how can a Beautyblender create the look?

In a series of Instagram posts, Stevens first begins with cutting the Beautyblender in half and horrifying every single makeup junkie in the process.

He then uses the rounded side of the product like a sponge and gently presses on shades of deep purple and bright yellow dye.

And the results are incredible — a bold mixture of bright and faded colours blending into the natural hair.

Okay, as much as watching the Beautyblender be cut in half hurt us, we must say, it was worth it for this cool look.
