Another Ford family member is vying for a seat on Toronto's city council.

Michael Ford, the 21-year-old nephew of the late former mayor Rob Ford, announced Wednesday that he's running in the byelection for Ward 2 Etobicoke North, the same seat his uncle used to hold.

"I am very grateful to call Etobicoke my home," Ford said in a statement, according to CBC News.

"I was born in Ward 2, I grew up here and I hope to serve the hard working residents of North Etobicoke for many years to come."

'I will call you back'

Ford also launched a website detailing his experience and platform, which includes customer service, low taxes and "sustainable community investment."

"I will call you back, I will return your messages, and I will come straight to your door to make sure you get the excellent level of service you deserve," his website states.

CP24 reports Ford is so far the only person to announce his candidacy for the byelection, which is set to take place July 25. Ford has not yet filed his official paperwork, however.

Ford ran for Ward 2 during the last municipal election but stepped aside for his uncle Rob after he left the mayoral race following his cancer diagnosis. Doug Ford, another uncle of Michael's, held the seat from 2010 to 2014.

The Toronto Sun reports Ford will resign from his current role as school board trustee to run for the seat.
