Ever wanted to visit an art gallery featuring your selfies? Now you can — sort of.
Sketchfab, a 3D modelling platform, recently launched Instamuseum, an app that creates a virtual reality museum of your Instagram photos.
All you have to do is input the handle of any public Instagram page, decide how you want the photos displayed, and wait a few minutes for the gallery to render. Then, you can explore the museum and view your pictures in VR.
The app uses Blender to create the 3D environments, and Sketchfab uploads the final product onto their platform.
Currently, Sketchfab only supports the HTC Vibe and Google Cardboard headsets, but they are working on making their platform compatible with the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR in the near future.
If you don’t have access to a VR headset, you can still view the gallery in your browser. Just use your cursor to click and drag around the room.
While this may be VR’s first foray into social media integration, it’s already huge in the gaming community, and is revolutionizing healthcare, business and travel.
