According to the National Kidney Foundation, it is estimated that one in ten people will have a kidney stone at some time in their lives and each year, more than half a million people go to emergency rooms for kidney stone problems.

But what exactly are kidney stones and how do you get them?

In a new study published by the Mayo Clinic, researchers found that people who developed kidney stones are more susceptible to chronic kidney disease.
