Once I decided my career would focus on weight loss, I never expected it to grow the way it has. It's probably one of the hottest topics out there.

If you want attention, promise people weight loss results. If you want a career, find a way to do it long term. The combination of the two is what I like to consider the One Fit City backbone. The weight of the Nation will change as we get Cities to get healthier. Healthy Cities come from neighborhoods getting fit together.

The most cost effective way to get in shape is with your friends. It is built in adherence, and motivation. There is no replacing having someone waiting for you, or asking "what did you eat today?" Get solid information from trusted sources and start working it in to your routine. Slowly build the perfect routine. Check in with experts in your city, and have a "go-to" list of experts. Chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, dieticians, and personal trainers.

Remember that what you put in your body is more important than how hard you work out. I am challenging all my weight loss clients, and pro athletes to drink a smoothie a day. My smoothie of choice is first thing in the morning and is the Ultimate Wake Up smoothie. Put this in your body and fuel for success.

Looking at the videos I post when doing my blogs you will notice a lot of pro and Olympic level athletes. The reason is "fun." These athletes live actively and get paid to play. It's the best life, and for that reason they should be motivational role models. They have not forgot to be active and have fun. The best two stress relievers known to man. Sports training also gives us great tips for getting fit.

Have you tried Tabata? It's not an exercise, it's a time and work to rest ratio. Your work as hard as you can for 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. The exercise you choose would be completed eight times in true Tabata. That represents four minutes in the actual circuit. My favorite way to use Tabata is between strength sets in a weight loss routine. Try this example. Get your heart rate up, and push the strength side of the workout.

3 sets of 10 on this circuit

Then Tabata burpees x 4 sets

Circuit #2 - 3 x 10

Tabata shuffle and sprawl x 4

Finish with a core circuit and then a stretch.
